Flauer offers the butterfly watching experience on the butterfly trail. Butterfly watching is a fast-growing discipline that allows more and more people to appreciate the beauty and great variety of diurnal butterflies: probably the most evocative order of insects.
Alassio has an initial hilly area that is little known but extremely interesting from a naturalistic point of view.
The planned itinerary runs along the ridge between Monte Pisciavino (punta Vegliasco) and Monte Bignone on the Alta Via Baia del Sole (AVB), which connects Albenga to Laigueglia, starting from the Vegliasco region. The trail initially follows the dirt road that leads to the antennas at the summit of the mountain and then stretches halfway up the hillside and across the dense Mediterranean scrub until it reaches the saddle between Monte Castellaro and Pisciavino. From here, taking the ridge path, continue in the direction of Albenga to the saddle of Monte Bignone where you leave the AVBS to reach the village of Cavia and the Vegliasco - Cavia panoramic road where the excursion ends.
NB: depending on the interest and availability of the participants, the itinerary could vary in length and difficulty returning to Alassio on foot without the shuttle transfer.

Departure at 9 a.m. from Alassio railway station, Piazza Andrea Quartino
Transport by shuttle bus from Alassio station and back. A small ‘field manual’ for recognising the most common butterflies of the Mediterranean biogeographical area is provided.
It is recommended to wear hiking boots or hiking shoes with good soles, suitable clothing for the season, long trousers, a k-way/rain jacket, at least 1.5 litres of water, camera, binoculars and trekking poles.

The proposed route is not challenging in terms of length, but the difference in altitude requires a certain amount of effort on the part of the participant.
