The beauty of the Belle Époque
Welcome to the tennis club founded by Englishman Daniel Hanbury in 1923, a place which seems to be frozen in time. A lot of time has passed since it was a favourite haunt of British visitors in search of a milder winter climate and Hanbury Tennis Club is a reminder of the atmosphere of that early 20th century era.
The colonial style building retains its original furnishings and decorations such as wooden tennis rackets, photographs, posters and other memorabilia from the world of tennis and the old country.
The club is in a stunning location, at the foot of a densely forested hill and just a short walk from the centre of Alassio.
In the grounds of the club which include seven clay courts, one indoor court and the three newly constructed padel courts, you can still savour the timeless atmosphere of the days when great champions of the past would play matches here, as well as the games still played here as part of the international seniors tournament.
