Hiking in the hills above Alassio gives you a real sense of why this town became so popular with foreign visitors in the Victorian era, thanks to its mild climate, lively town centre and beautiful scenery.
If you are a keen walker, you will have plenty of choice with dozens and dozens of kilometres of footpaths and forest tracks along ancient trade routes or following in the footsteps of shepherds and woodcutters. Many of the trails run along the sides of the hills, offering beautiful views, whilst others pass through forests and olive groves, full of the sweet aromas of the Mediterranean.
