I will take you for a walk along the old mule track from the centre of Alassio to the little village of Solva which takes its name from the local word for “above”.
The route starts in Piazza Stalla and climbs gently, offering wonderful views across the bay. As we make our way along the trail, we come across the Santissima Annunziata church, dating back to 1382, which contains some fascinating late Mediaeval frescoes depicting the pains of hell and the seven deadly sins. It also hosts the “Biscette Festival”, celebrating the little fritters which are one of Alassio’s traditional products: you have to give them a try for yourself! If you enjoy walking, this trail will not disappoint.
